Uncover bullseye
Set your organisation's bullseye - what you will do and what you won't do.
Why is this important?
- Keeping focus as a business is crucial
- Knowing what you will do, and what you won't do, gives this focus.
- This focus creates a core competitive advantage.
How does this pathway work?
Why bullseye?
A business can easily go off track and become distracted by perceived opportunities or get overly focused on perceived threats. Sometimes you just get a little bored and want to try the next bright shiny thing!
It is important to define what you DO so you can be clear about what you will NOT do.
Getting this focus is what we refer to as the bullseye.
Your bullseye is the intersection of:
- What you are passionate about
- What you are great at
- What your customer needs
- What you can be paid for

Components of the bullseye
What are you passionate about?
Great companies focus on what they are truly passionate about.
The idea here is not to uncover what everyone could be passionate about but rather to uncover what actually makes you passionate.
What are you great at?
This should be found in your innate talents. You want to be asking what are you are great at, possibly the best in the market.
What do your customer's need?
If you haven’t got a really good grasp on the answer to this question you need to ask them - don’t be arrogant and assume you know.
What can we be paid for?
As well as recording what you're currently being paid for, explore potential revenue streams.
